One thing we love about working in the shop is all the great people we get to meet and hearing about their riding adventures. And so many of these fantastic stories have an interesting bike to go with it. Some folks go on epic bike adventures, others ride 365 days a year, and some ride bikes that could tell tales of their own. We hope to tell you about a few of these great stories here.
Neal and a friend are bike touring into adventure this summer starting in here Boulder, Colorado. Their only plan is to get to Estes Park on the first day. After that, the schedule is loosely defined as 'TBD.' They'll leave Estes Park riding out over Trail Ridge Road and head north to and through Medicine Bow National Forest. Then it is up to the Tetons in Wyoming, on to Yellowstone, and then further north to Glacier National Park in Montana where they'll visit family and friends. That right there is 1,000+ miles by bike, through some amazing scenery and up some big climbs!
After Glacier, they'll continue west and northwest, cycling into parts unknown until time and money run out. Then they'll head home and plan the next adventure.
To get Neal's steel Surly touring bike ready for this adventure, we added a few touring basics like racks for both the front and rear of the bike. Neal brought in a great decaleur bag (quick release handlebar bag) for the front. (That bag is roomy!) Also added some light and sturdy MKS flat pedals as Neal is choosing stiff soled shoes over clipless cycling shoes for his tour. Both man and machine are now ready to venture north. Have a great trip Neal!
More stories to come. Stay tuned!
